Tititoria - Maori Stick games with Janet

We have been very lucky this term to have Janet Jackson come in and teach us some Te Reo Maori. We have learnt Maori animal names, body parts, Maori songs and this week we learnt how to do Tititoria to E Papa Wairia. We had a great time playing Maori stick games and working on our hand eye co-ordination. What we were using was just rolled up magazines, you could make some at home.

Class of Champions!

I love coming to school and hearing about the AMAZING things that the kids in Room 4 have been doing.

Hannah - In her Contemporary Dance Exam received High Honours. The second highest grade! She says the hardest thing about her exam was "trying to remember everything". The best thing about the exam "was getting the result!".
In Hannah's Jazz exam she scored 4.5 out of 5 stars! Well done Hannah we are very proud of you!

Stephanie - In her Contemporary Dance Exam received Honours, in her Jazz Exam received Very Highly Commended and in her Hip Hop Exam received Very Highly commended. The hardest thing about the exams was "contemporary because you have to have really good control of yourself and you don't usually start until you are 12". The best thing was, "probably listening to the music because I got excellence". What a busy bunch of dancers in Room 4!

Julio - Played in the Global Games for rugby representing Taupo at Owen Delany Park. His team played in 6 games over two days. They had five wins and a draw. The team won and were the Cup Champions. Julio won Most Valuable Player in the tournament which also represents sportsmanship and determination. He received an amazing trophy that looks like a Maori fish hook.

Joe - Played in the Global Games as well and his team came third!

We also have Joe, Julio and Abby going to inter-school cross country on Wednesday.
On Wednesday night we have Julio, Peter and Archie competing in Maths Matters at Taupo Intermediate School starting at 6.30.
AND on Friday our Kapa Haka group is going to preforming in the Tuwharetoa Festival.

We love hearing about what the kids are doing and achieving so keep it up!
